The LeTip of Denville is proud to make the following announcement; Due to the combination of the growth and the opportunity to increase the chapters presents in Denville, NJ, our chapter made the decision to relocate our weekly meetings to the Italian Village Pizzeria & Ristorante.  This decision will be effective immediately.  The address of our new location is 36 1^st Ave Denville NJ beginning June 6^th.

The group also voted for the acceptance of Andrew Rubin into our chapter.  Andrew will represent the electrician category.  Our group is proud to have a licensed electrician in our network.

The meeting wrapped up with everyone’s commercials and the passing of the Silver Tip Jug.  The group passed an impressive 8 tips.  Tip leader was Marianne Jones with 3 tips passed.

We had another great meeting this morning with a good crowd and a great speaker!  Despite having 6 absences, we also had 2 guests with us.  Scott Goldstein, a local Bankruptcy attorney in Denville, was a guest of Robin’s for the first time and Gabe Gonzalez a roofer, was a guest of Bill’s for the second time.  After the meeting, Gabe was proud to announce he would be joining our lively group, so as long as his application is dated by May 2^nd – the day he announced he’d join us – Bill Shuler will receive $50 as part of our “Spring Forward” Membership contest…great job, Bill!

Our featured speaker today was Rudy Riveron of Remax, our residential Real Estate agent, who’s been in the business for 27 years.  Rudy is part of our successful Real Estate Quartet in LeTip of Denville, which also features Marianne Jones, our Mortgage broker, Robin Wolfe, our title reader and Janet Navarro, our Real Estate closing attorney.  In fact, just as his presentation began, Rudy presented Janet with an “Excellence Medal” for closing what he deemed as the ‘longest Short Sale’ of his career…job well done, Janet!  During his presentation, Rudy gave the group a nice understanding of where the residential real estate market it these days.  He mentioned there have actually been bidding wars for well-priced homes in the last 3-6 months, however, the price point with those homes is key.  Rudy also went so far as to say that some homes are receiving multiple offers overnight, including one he listed recently that had between 6-8 offers in one day!  He did go on to mention that homes like that are in a great area and in an upbeat market.  That’s why it’s important to have a professional like Rudy in your corner to navigate you through a tough market and gauge the inventory available.  Rudy wrapped up with an 8-question Quiz on the style of homes available today, ranging from Contemporary to Colonial and everywhere in between…some of our members even scored a perfect 100% on the quiz.  Rudy Riveron of Remax in Rockaway is “R” true asset in LeTip of Denville and we’re so glad he’s a part of our chapter!!

The meeting wrapped up with everyone’s commercials and the passing of the Silver Tip Jug.  Afterwards, the board met for its monthly LeTip of Denville board meeting and a big credit goes to our president, John Tully, for outlining an agenda to the meeting.  John had 8 talking points and really wants to focus on true board member responsibilities and running our Chapter like a well-oiled production machine as we go on!  We will keep you posted on the progression of our Chapter moving forward and we look forward to another productive week ahead and hope to have Scott re-join us for his second meeting!

Another close to full house meeting this morning with only three absences…Our chapter president, John Tully – enjoying his second meeting leading our lively group – announced visitation commercials would be pushed an extra week to April 25^th.  So we look forward to what should be a great meeting as visitation commercials are always a blast for us!

John also made mention of our continuing “Spring Forward” membership contest.  If an existing LeTip of Denville member sponsors a new person into the group not previously represented, that member will receive $50!  Applications must be dated by May 2^nd.

Our featured speaker today was Joe Bellistri, our personal trainer of the group and Owner of “Solutions Fitness,” which will soon open at a new location on 30 Columbia Turnpike in Florham Park, NJ.

Joe asked for help from 3 current members, Jeff, Dan Gehrig and Greg to help with his presentation and actively ‘used’ the three men to show the group his evaluation process, which gives Joe a starting point to work from with each client.  He takes this approach so he can customize a specific exercise plan to that individual.  Greg, Jeff and Dan were taken thru about 8-9 movements so Joe could recognize movements of the joints and mobility for each of his participants.

Joe’s initial goal with everyone he works with is to work on the things your body “doesn’t normally respond to” as to strengthen that portion of the body and eventually make that an area of strength.  Most of the folks Joe develops a training plan for train about 2-3 times a week, including many members of our group.  Joe Nugent is one of those people and he marveled to the group of how Joe B. really customizes a plan for everyone to make it so individual.  It’s not a cookie cutter approach that some in the training field may utilize, according to Joe Nugent.  Joe B. wrapped up with a quick guide to nutrition, which he is always willing to lend his expertise to the group on.  He was very appreciative of the fact that being a member of LeTip has allowed his public speaking skills to sharpen, which is one of the reasons why he joined our Chapter in the first place!  Go figure, since Joe was thorough, informative and very entertaining.  Joe Bellistri of “Solutions Fitness” is a true asset to LeTip of Denville and we’re so glad he’s a part of our chapter!!

This was our first meeting with our new President, John Tully, at the helm!  John ushered in the Chapter’s new era with the old LeTip adage of “Give-Get-Grow-Repeat.”  LeTip of Denville looks forward to a bright future under that credo and John’s leadership.

Our featured speaker today was Joe Nugent, of Prudential, who represents the Personal Auto and Home insurance category for the group under Plymouth Rock insurance.  A leading producer with Prudential for over 30 years, Joe has his own home office in Oak Ridge, NJ and features a staff of 5 people.  Joe began his talk by reflecting on a phrase that he’s chosen to center his business model around – “Develop your strengths and manage your weaknesses.”  Joe’s strength is in his added value to our group.  He spoke of the rising Auto insurance costs for single women, which can be as high as the cost of a single full comprehensive policy for a family.  Joe mentioned alternate ways (which not many people in the general population know about) to use your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) for things like essential services, income continuation and disability income protection.  Joe spoke of the value of this and how folks can benefit from these features in some cases up to $100 a week for two years under income continuation and $800 for disability income protection!  Joe is willing to take a look at your own insurance to see where your benefits stack up to his recommendations – believe us it’s worth it!

Greg announced the start of a spring promotion – the next member bringing in a new member would receive $50! He also reminded the room about visitations to be done next week (March 28).

Today’s speaker was Heather McManus of Artistry Interiors LLC. Heather gave us a summary of her background:

She was born on Long Island and is of Italian/Irish descent, her dad was a truck driver and her mom was a cleaning lady and Heather was the first in her family to go to college! She went to the prestigious Pratt Institute and received her BFA in Art Education. Following her then boyfriend she moved to NJ and moved from education into interior design, which she regarded as an accident at the time but now sees it as destiny. Her energy signature (!) places her as a “Creative & Expressive” person who looks for “invitations” into people’s worlds. When she’s invited in she finds she’s very quick to pick up on her client’s signals and often prepares the right color scheme without even meeting with them.
She’s been own her own for a year now and has been featured three times in trade magazines during that time – something that some of her contemporaries only dream about. Her motto is to “Love where you live” and she goes out of her way to help people achieve this. She’s a big believer in organization, making sure that the space you are in functions to serve you. She also works with a room’s personality to help to make it a friendly environment.
Heather handed out some before and after shots of her work and gave us a price list for her services, all the way from help with paint selection for $100 up to the “Big Reveal” for $5500!

Before the meeting finished we had our chapter elections for the incoming board of directors. Most of the board stays the same but John will be moving up to President and Greg will slide over to Secretary. New positions included Bill Shuler as Mentor chair, Joe Bellistri as Health and Wellness chair, Tom Biondi as “Sargent-at-Arms”.

Today’s speaker was Kevin Dulio of Native Fields Landscaping. Kevin gave us a summary of his background:

He was born and raised in Rockaway and went to high school at Morris Hills. He attended Morris Vo-tech school for landscape design where one of his teachers described his design as “terrible”. He persevered and attended Delaware Valley College and graduated with a degree in Horticulture and Landscaping. He started working at a nursery and greenhouse doing some landscaping on the side. That side job has turned into Kevin’s fulltime job as owner of Native Fields Landscaping.

How to plant a tree

Kevin switched gears at this point and gave us the benefit of his experience with instructions on how to successfully plant a new tree. A fascinating topic that only made the audience realize that if they ever needed to have a tree planted that it was much simpler just to get Kevin to come and do it!

We had a few absences today probably because of the threat of snow that didn’t show up. We did have two guests, Frank Morales (Dragon Slayer) of Sandler Training and Mario Matute of A General Painting and Services. We hope they consider joining our group.

Today’s speaker was Jeff Jones of AmeriSouce Realty – realtors dealing with commercial space of all types. He gave a summary of his background for the newer members. He started with the fact that people often consider that he’s been lucky, but as Jeff points out “luck is where the crossroads of preparation and opportunity meet”. He readily admits that he was pulled kicking and screaming to LeTip but now says it’s an important part of his business world.

Like Marianne, Jeff started life as a teacher combining his role as NJ’s first male kindergarten teacher along with serving in the Army. He joined the Army as a way to pay off his college loans which reached a “massive” $6200 in the late 1970s! He worked his way up through the Army to become a drill sergeant – becoming the only kindergarten teacher also licensed to kill! After his stint as a teacher and in the Army he was inspired to move into real estate by his mentor, Mr Vuolo, Marianne’s dad. He’s spent 31 years in commercial real estate the last 7 years with his own company AmeriSource Realty. People say he was “lucky” that he bought his building in Parsippany but he feels that it’s a combination of preparation, motivation and opportunity that’s propelled him to a position where the building is 100% full when the average vacancy rate in Morris County is much higher.

He’s been recently named as the Washington DC small business liaison for the NJ Realty Association – combining his love of realty, small business and public speaking.

Jeff parted with his opinion that while the residential real estate market appears to be coming back, the commercial market is at its worst for 50 years – but that that in itself can be a great opportunity to those looking for the lowest real estate prices in years.

Fairly full house today and we welcomed a guest of Bill Shuler’s, Juan Ortiz who owns Master Railing, a company that installs railings and does masonry work.

Today’s speaker was Marianne Jones of Millenium Home Mortgage. Marianne is one of the owners of Millenium, a mortgage company based in Parsippany, NJ. Marianne gave a brief summary of her background – starting life as a Special Ed teacher, stating that all she wanted to do was teach. However after 4 years of a very difficult assignment she decided it was just too tough. Her dad was a realtor and she had her real estate license so she decided to seek a “business position” in the real estate world. She got a job as loan officer with a mortgage company one of only 2 women out of 50 men. Her first month’s salary was more than she earned in her first year as a teacher and that helped he make the decision to change careers! She worked for Caldwell Banker as one of their in-house loan officers handling their built-in business until one day the company changed direction and fired all their loan officers on one day! That was 15 years ago and 4 of the fired officers decided to get together and became partners in the new Millenium Home Mortgage. The company has continued to grow and closed $½billion of business last year. Marianne has not lost any of the passion she used to feel about helping people with their mortgages.

Marianne shifted gears at this point and started construction on a “LeTip Tree” – the fictional account of how Ben & Jerri used all the various members of the Denville LeTip chapter from Kevin’s landscaping company taking care of the gardening to John providing a website for their small business.
