We welcomed Amanda Best of Best Law Office as a guest to our meeting today. Amanda was Heather’s guest – only a few weeks after Heather joined herself. Good job by Heather!
Dan Linkletter of Tri-States Computer Services was today’s speaker.
Dan is one of the founding members of the chapter and made many of these talks. He notices that most of the time when he talks about technical issues that people just don’t know what many of the technical terms mean. He likened it to “Charlie Brown” talk – most people just hear “whamph, whamph, whamph”! To help us understand more of these terms Dan introduced us to IT Bingo.
We each received a bingo card with various IT terms on it and Dan read out the definitions. We learnt, for instance, that USB stands for “universal serial bus” and that one gigabyte is one thousand megabytes.
Competition was fierce and there were many blank faces at some of the questions but there were winners who received prizes for getting “BINGO!”
Dan told us that he regularly used 80+% of these terms every day. Thanks Dan for making this technical topic so much fun!
No meeting next week to celebrate July 4th – we will reconvene on July 12 with our commercials following our visitations.
The meeting wrapped up with our commercials and the passing of the tip jar.
